2026 FinTech Breakthrough Award Winning Companies Announced

It’s that time of year, again: the annual FinTech Breakout Award recipients have been revealed.

About the 2026 Winners:

Today, FinTech Breakthrough announced this year’s top companies across multiple categories.

First up, MX was named Personal Finance Platform of the Year. Last year, Monarch won a similar but differently titled “Best Personal Finance Platform” award. Meanwhile, 2026’s Personal Finance App of the Year was Quicken, whereas 2025’s Best Personal Finance App winner was Credit Sesame. Sticking in the Personal Finance category, the Personal Finance Innovation Award was given to credit-building platform Kikoff, while Trust & Will was dubbed Personal Finance Product of the Year.

Turning to Consumer Lending, one notable honoree was Happy Money. After winning Best Consumer Lending Company last year, the company took home the award for Consumer Lending Company of the Year. Elsewhere, Goodleap won Consumer Lending Platform of the Year, and Beforepay took Overall Digital Lending Product of the Year.

Jumping around to some other award recipients, the children and family banking app Greenlight won Financial Education App of the Year. The Banking Innovation Award was presented to LendingClub, while the Fraud Prevention Innovation Award went to Capital One. Varo took the award for Digital Bank of the Year while WeBull was named Stock Trading App of the Year. Finally, Xero was honored for the Best Use of AI in FinTech.

The full list of 2026 winners across dozens of categories can be found on the FinTech Breakthrough Awards site.

What They’re Saying:

In a statement, Matt Potere — CEO of two-time winner Happy Money — discussed the FinTech Breakthrough honor, saying “Winning this recognition of Best Consumer Lending Company two years running reflects the relevance of our loan product, the quality of our credit performance and the trust we’ve built with both borrowers and funding partners.”

Potere added, “Over the past year, we’ve deepened our credit modeling, expanded our partner programs and continued to prove that disciplined underwriting and consumer access can scale together.”

My Thoughts:

One other company I wanted to shout out is Jack Henry, which was named Small Business Payments Solution of the Year. Incidentally, this company is headquartered in nearby Monett, Missouri — and my former neighbor happened to work for them.

Anyway, as I said last year, I am a bit skeptical of these awards overall. For example, the slight shift in category names this time around strikes me as off. But, once again, this isn’t to say that the honored companies aren’t worthy of distinction. If nothing else, I do think it’s interesting to see what different startups in various verticals are up to, and these awards are a good monitoring source for that.
