United and Instacart Partner to Bring New Delivery Perk to Flyers

A new grocery delivery perk is coming to those who fly the friendly skies.

About the United and Instacart Partnership:

United Airlines and Instacart are teaming up to bring a unique benefit to travelers. Now, customers can link their United MileagePlus accounts to Instacart in order to claim $0 delivery fees in concert with their United flights.

With this offer, customers can unlock a week of the Instacart+ $0 delivery fee perk by registering their domestic United flight. This can be done starting 7 days before a qualifying flight and lasting until 14 days after. Currently, this partnership is set to continue through October 2028.

To get started, flyers can visit the partnership landing page and log into their MileagePlus account (those who aren’t yet MileagePlus members can also sign up). Then, when customers have a qualifying flight, they can activate their offer. Note that the $0 delivery fee benefit is only valid on orders of $10 or more — although there’s a $35 order minimum for Costco and a $25 minimum for restaurants.

In addition to the $0 delivery fee benefit, those who link their United and Instacart accounts can currently earn 500 bonus MileagePlus miles after making an Instacart purchase of $35 or more within 60 days (regardless of whether they have an upcoming flight or not). Moreover, MileagePlus members who are also new Instacart customers can earn 5,000 bonus miles when they make at least four Instacart grocery orders within eight weeks.

What They’re Saying:

Announcing the partnership and benefit, United MileagePlus CEO Richard Nunn stated, “We’re always looking for new ways to make our loyalty program even more valuable for our members and the partners we choose go a long way towards making travel –and life—easier and more rewarding. This Instacart collaboration gives members the peace of mind to know they can add groceries and other essentials at just about any stage of their trip – from making sure that order is waiting for them when they check into their rental property to stocking up at home so they can hit the ground running when they return. All while earning miles along the way.”

My Thoughts:

This is a random but welcome benefit with a few different applications. For one, it could be used to get some last-minute snacks and supplies before a trip. Alternatively, if you’re staying at a property that has kitchen accommodations while on vacation, you could order groceries to your door instead of venturing out. Finally, rather than restocking your pantry after traveling, you could simply place an Instacart order for what you need. Of course, with just one week of validity based on when you activate, you’ll want to plan ahead and choose your activation date carefully.

My only question is, why are only domestic flights eligible? Moreover, if I’m traveling internationally but have a domestic leg to my itinerary, would that be valid? Regardless of these nitpick queries, I do think this is a fun team-up that will hopefully be useful for some travelers.

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi. That was later sent into overdrive as the company has not only become a household name thanks to its stadium naming rights deal but also because of the company’s continued product expansions. The most interesting development in my mind is SoFi’s acquisition of Golden Pacific...
