Two Enhanced Capital One Business Card Bonuses Ending Soon

Capital One has announced an end date for welcome bonuses on two of its small business credit cards.

About the Spark Cash and Spark Cash Plus Bonuses:

Limited-time travel credit offers for a pair of Capital One cards are coming to an end. This week, the bank announced that the current bonuses for the Spark Cash and Spark Cash Plus cards would expire on September 7th.

Until that date, new Spark Cash customers can earn a $250 Capital One Business Travel credit after spending $10,000 on the card within the first three months. That’s in addition to the $1,000 in cashback cardholders can earn after meeting that minimum spending amount.

Meanwhile, the Spark Cash Plus card is offering new cardholders a $500 Capital One Business Travel credit as well as $2,000 cashback after spending at least $30,000 in the first three months. Cardholders can earn another $2,000 bonus cashback for every $500,000 they spend on the card during their first year.

Capital One Business Travel credits do expire 15 months after account opening.

With the Capital One Spark Cash and Capital One Spark Cash Plus cards, small business owners can earn unlimited 2% cashback on all purchases, regardless of spending category. The cards also earn 5% cashback on hotels and rental car bookings made using the Capital One Business Travel portal. Note that the Spark Cash card does carry a $95 annual fee, although this is waived for the first year. As for the Spark Cash Plus card, it has a $150 annual fee, which is refunded when cardholders spend more than $150,000 on it during a cardholder year.

My Thoughts:

Overall, these are pretty good bonuses, given the extra travel credit components. But, as is often the case with business credit cards, the minimum spending amounts are quite high — especially for the Spark Cash Plus! So, business owners will want to make sure that they can meet these requirements (without unnecessary spending) before attempting to take advantage of these offers.

In terms of which card is a better fit, that will depend on how much you plan on spending on the card. For those who intend to put more than $150,000 a year on their small business credit card, then the Spark Cash Plus would be a sound pick due to the refunded annual fee and higher bonuses. However, those who aren’t sure how much they spend on the card per year may want to start with the regular Spark Cash card (especially since the annual fee is waived for the first year). Either way, you’ll still be earning the same 2% back on all purchases.

If you are in the market for a small business credit card and want to nab one of these Capital One bonuses, be sure to apply before the September 7th end date.
