IHG Premier Card Introduces Welcome Offer for 5 Free Nights

Chase’s IHG Premier card is currently offering a welcome bonus that could be worth up to 300,000 points.

About the IHG Premier Bonus:

For a limited time, new IHG Premier card applicants can take advantage of what Chase is calling the card’s “best offer of 2025.” Currently, new cardholders can earn five free night certificates after spending $5,000 on the card within their first three months. Each of these certificates is worth up to 60,000 points. Note that multiple Free Nights can be booked at once, provided that a property’s Free Night inventory is available each night of booking.

Beyond this lucrative bonus, the IHG Premier card packs plenty of perks for cardholders. First, the card includes automatic Platinum Elite status. Moreover, those who spend at least $40,000 per calendar year on the card can unlock Diamond Elite status. Elsewhere, as a cardholder, members can get their fourth night when redeeming three nights’ worth of points toward a consecutive four-night stay.

As for other benefits, each cardholder anniversary year, customers will earn one Anniversary Free Night certificate, worth up to 40,000 points (although members can supplement these specific certificates with points from their accounts). Cardholders can also receive up to $50 in United TravelBank Cash each calendar year. To take advantage of this offer, customers will need to register their IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card with their MileagePlus account. Additionally, the card also includes a credit of up to $120 towards TSA Precheck, Global Entry, or NEXUS application fees. This credit can be used up to once every four years.

Lastly, let’s talk about rewards. With the IHG Premier card, you can earn up to 26x points on IHG stays. That total includes 10x points from the card itself, 10x points from being an IHG One Rewards member, and an additional 6x points from the included Platinum Elite status. As for other purchases, the card earns 5x points on dining, 5x on travel, and 5x at gas stations. All other purchases earn 3x points.

Note that the IHG Premier card from Chase does carry a $99 annual fee. Also, this limited-time welcome bonus offer is set to expire on July 23rd, 2025.

My Thoughts:

I actually got the business version of this card a couple of months ago. At the time, that card’s bonus was 140,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months, plus another 60,000 points after spending a total of $9,000 in the first six months. On the one hand, this offer valued at up to 300,000 points seems like a much better deal as it’s more points for a lower minimum spend. However, I’m not mourning my decision — and actually prefer the deal I got.

Why? Well, unfortunately, those 60,000-point certificates expire one year from their issued date. On top of that, unlike the Anniversary Free Night, these certificates cannot be supplemented with additional points from your account. While it’s possible I happen to spend five nights at rooms valued at exactly 60,000 points over the next year, I vastly prefer the flexibility of just banking points and using them when and where I see fit.

Lessons From a First-Time Home Buyer: The Good and Bad of Door-to-Door Solicitors

When we first moved into our home, I noted that one of my least favorite things about living in a house (as compared to an access-controlled apartment building) was the ability for solicitors and other strangers to knock on our door. To be fair, this hasn't happened with too much frequency — and there is a range of just how obnoxious they are. Well, recently, we had two very different...

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi. That was later sent into overdrive as the company has not only become a household name thanks to its stadium naming rights deal but also because of the company’s continued product expansions. The most interesting development in my mind is SoFi’s acquisition of Golden Pacific...
