Chase Debuts New $149 Annual Fee Disney Inspire Credit Card

A new Disney rewards credit card has joined Chase’s line-up.

About the Disney Inspire Visa Card:

Today, Chase made it official, announcing the new Disney Inspire Visa Card. With an annual fee of $149, the Inspire now sits at the top of the Chase-Disney portfolio, joining the no-annual-fee Disney Visa card and $49 annual fee Disney Premier Visa card.

Starting with rewards, the Disney Inspire will earn 10% back in Disney Rewards Dollars for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN purchases as well as 3% rewards at most U.S. Disney locations. In terms of everyday spending, the card will earn 3% rewards at gas stations, 2% rewards at grocery stores, and 2% rewards at restaurants. All other purchases on the card earn 1% in rewards. Disney Rewards Dollars can be redeemed for theme park tickets, resort stays, DisneyStore.com purchases, Disney movie tickets at AMC Theatres, airline purchases (via Pay Yourself Back statement credits), and more.

Additionally, the Disney Inspire features exclusive benefits. First, cardholders enjoy up to $120 per year ($10 per month) on Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN purchases. Then, there are two credits that cardholders can unlock. Inspire customers can earn 200 Disney Rewards Dollars after spending $2,000 on U.S. Disney Resort stays and/or Disney Cruise Line bookings per anniversary year. Additionally, cardholders can earn a $100 statement credit after spending $200 per anniversary year on U.S. Disney theme park tickets.

Other perks included with the Disney Inspire card include 10% off select DisneyStore.com purchases, 10% off select U.S. theme park merchandise, cardmember-exclusive photo ops, and more. The Inspire card also doesn’t charge any foreign transaction fees. Finally, new card designs — including those inspired by Lilo & Stitch, Coco, and Up — will be exclusive to the Inspire.

To celebrate the launch of the Disney Inspire Visa, a special welcome bonus is also rolling out. Currently, new cardholders can earn a $300 Disney Gift Card upon approval as well as earn a $300 statement credit after spending $1,000 on the card within their first three months from account opening.

My Thoughts:

Of course Disney revealed this card on the same day they announced a new CEO. Why wouldn’t they? When it rains, it pours.

Anyway, setting my gripes with Disney publicity aside, I think that this new Disney Inspire card instantly becomes the most attractive option in the Chase-Disney lineup. Granted, it doesn’t have much competition there as I don’t see the value in the other two, but I think this is obviously the card to get for most hardcore Disney fans. For one, the annual fee is nearly covered by Disney+ credit. Plus, since annual passes are included to unlock the anniversary year $100 Disney Theme Park Tickets Credit, that’s a pretty easy target to hit.

So, if you’re a regular Disney Parks attendee, the Disney Inspire card may be one worth picking up — or even upgrading to if you’re a current Disney Visa cardholder.
