Capital One Debuts Venture Business Rewards Credit Card
A new business rewards credit card from Capital One has arrived, replacing a previous option.
About the Capital One Venture Business Card:
This week, Capital One unveiled its new Venture Business credit card. The $95 annual fee card now accompanies the Capital One Venture X Business, which debuted in 2023.
Similar to the consumer version of the Capital One Venture card, the Venture Business offers unlimited 2x miles on all purchases. Additionally, it earns 5x miles on hotel, vacation rental, and rental car bookings made via Capital One Business Travel. However, this version of the card adds bonus perks, including an annual credit of up to $50 on Capital One Business Travel bookings and an annual statement credit of up to $50 on qualifying purchases from advertising or software merchants. The card also offers a credit of up to $120 for Global Entry or TSA Precheck application fees.
To mark the launch of the Venture Business, a limited-time welcome offer is now available. Currently, new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending at least $7,500 on the card within the first three months, plus an additional 75,000 bonus miles after spending at least $30,000 in the first six months. Those 150,000 miles are worth $1,500 toward any eligible travel purchase. Alternatively, Capital One Miles can be transferred to more than 15 travel partner programs.
With the arrival of the Venture Business, Capital One has halted applications for another business credit card: Spark Miles. That card also carried a $95 annual fee, although it was waived for the first year. Spark Miles also offered 2x miles on all purchases as well as 5x miles on select Capital One Business Travel purchases. However, the previous card did not include the $50 Capital One Business Travel or $50 advertising/software credits. Despite the Spark Miles card being discontinued, other Spark options, including the Spark 2% Cash card, Spark 2% Cash Plus card, and more are still available.
My Thoughts:
Considering that Capital One added the Venture X Business to its lineup more than two years ago, to me, it makes sense that they’d swap out the Spark Miles branding in favor of the flagship Venture Business card. And while the loss of the waived first-year annual fee, the addition of recurring credits likely makes this an improvement for many small business account holders.
Meanwhile, I’m a bit bitter that this new card includes $220 credits, whereas the consumer Venture card only has the $120 Global Entry/TSA Precheck credit. Where’s my recurring $50 travel bonus, Capital One?!
Bitterness aside, I think the new Capital One Venture Business card could be a good and relatively simple option for small business owners.
