Benzinga Announces Listmakers Ahead of Global FinTech Awards

This week Benzinga will host their fifth annual Benzinga Global FinTech Awards in New York City. Ahead of that event, the financial media platform has announced a list of 150 “carefully vetted and renowned” companies and executives in various categories.  From the list, 10 overall winners will be unveiled at the annual awards ceremony.

This year’s list is comprised of 150 nominees is 22 different categories. These categories include:

  • Best AI Platform
  • Best Data Analysis Tool
  • Influential Data Scientist
  • Best API
  • Best Digital Bank
  • Best Accelerator
  • Most Innovative Lender
  • Best Alternative Investments
  • Best Brokerage for Beginners
  • Best Brokerage for Options Trading
  • Best Brokerage for Trading Futures
  • Best Canadian Brokerage
  • Best Robo-Advisor
  • Best Trading Technology
  • Best Wealth Management Software
  • Most Impactful Brokerage Executive
  • Best Lending Platform
  • Best Financial Literacy Tool
  • Best New Product
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • Best Payments App
  • Best Use of Blockchain

With Benzinga’s listmakers in each category arranged by the year of their founding, it’s interesting to note that the nominees date as far back as 1914. That oldtimer would be Best Brokerage for Futures Trading nominee RJO Futures. However Ally — which made the list for Best Brokerage for Beginners — wasn’t far behind, being founded in 1919. Meanwhile the newest startup on the list was founded just this year: Trade App joined the aforementioned Ally and others on the Best Brokerage for Beginners list.

While some of Benzinga’s picks may be a bit under the radar, others represent not only major players in FinTech but some household names. For example Charles Schwab’s Intelligent Portfolio’s earned them a spot on the Best Robo-Advisor list with Charles Schwab the man receiving a lifetime achievement award (alongside Thomas Peterffy of Interactive Brokers) this year. Some of the top FinTechs to make the lists in their respective spaces include Square, Stripe, Plaid, Green Dot, Kabbage, Funding Circle, SoFi, Robinhood, Betterment, Wealthfront, and many more.

In a press release unveiling the list, Benzinga CEO Jason Raznick said of the awards, “We’re recognizing the companies that will define the future of our financial lives.” He also highlighted the success past nominees, noting, “Since the inaugural Benzinga FinTech Awards in 2015, our listmakers have closed $300 million in deals and partnered with some of the biggest players in the industry. We look forward to honoring these players for years to come, as well as finding the next generation of FinTech.”

Looking over Benzinga’s listmakers, it’s not hard to find several worthy nominees. On top of that, just browsing the categories and companies included only reinforces that the FinTech sector is in fine shape. With that, an early congratulations to this year’s honorees as well as of the rest of these impressive startups.
