American Express Reveals Slate of Member Week Offers

American Express has announced more details on its offerings for Member Week — which kicks off today.

About Members Week offers:

From now through October 13th, American Express is celebrating the 2023 edition of Member Week. As in years past, this will include exclusive experiences for cardholders as well as special deals.

Among the featured deals is one from Hilton. Cardholders (excluding the Marriott Bonvoy Amex cards), can now enroll in an Amex Offer to earn $80 back after spending at least $200 at select Hilton brands. As for what brands, the terms list the Curio Collection, Canopy, Tapestry Collection, Motto, and Tempo locations in the United States or U.S. territories. While members will need to activate this offer by October 13th — AKA the end of Member Week — they’ll have until December 31st to use this deal.

Some other special Amex Offers include Bose (get $25 back after spending $75+), Dell (get $50 back when spending $100+), Duolingo (get $40 back after spending $75+ for Super Duolingo subscription), and more. These particular offers must be activated by October 13th and used by October 18th.

Elsewhere, there are also offers specific to those with one of the Delta SkyMiles co-branded cards. Eligible Delta cardmembers can now enroll in an offer to earn a $100 Delta eCredit after booking an eligible international flight on Delta.com with their Delta SkyMiles American Express Card. Meanwhile, other cardmembers can look for special offers from Delta Air Lines, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, and more on Amex Travel — although Delta SkyMiles cardholders are excluded from these offers.

American Express is also highlighting a recently added offer for its Rewards Checking account. Now, cardmembers can open an account and earn a $250 bonus when they make a qualifying direct deposit of $500 or more. To earn this bonus, the Rewards Checking account must be opened by October 31st and the qualifying direct deposit must arrive by December 10th.

Outside of these deals, American Express is also hosting exclusive events for members. Perhaps most notably, the card company is sponsoring a concert by pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo. Cardmembers can watch Rodrigo perform songs from her new album GUTS starting on Tuesday, October 10th at 8:00pm E.T., with the replay being available through Thursday, October 12th.

What they’re saying:

Announcing this year’s event, Amex Chief Marketing Officer Elizabeth Rutledge said, “We look forward to celebrating our Card Members and merchants during our third annual Member Week where we showcase the unique benefits of choosing to be with American Express. Member Week will enhance the value we provide to our customers with offers in categories they care about the most, in a way that only American Express can.”

My thoughts:

Overall, this American Express Member Week does include some solid deals — even if the timeframe with which to use them is limited. With the exception of the select Hilton brands deal (which can be used through the end of the year), others must be used by October 18th. That means that members will likely need to weigh the benefits of these deals versus potential sales that may arise around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

As always, if you do plan on taking advantage of these deals, be sure to read the terms and conditions to make sure your purchase is eligible for the Amex Offer.
