Alaska Airlines and Lyft Announce Partnership, Miles Promotion

With the holiday travel season on the horizon, Alaska Airlines and Lyft have announced a new partnership that will allow riders to add to their Mileage Plana accounts. Through December 31st, customers who link their Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and Lyft account can earn 2 miles per dollar spent on Lyft rides. After that date, the regular earning rate of 1 mile per dollar spent will be implemented. Rewards can be earned on any Lyft ride in the United States or Canada, including Standard, Wait & Save, Priority Pickup, Shared, and many more. To link accounts, customers can visit AlaskaLyft.com to get started.

Alaska Airlines joins other travel partners including Hilton and Delta Airlines in offering Lyft riders the chance to earn additional points. Currently, though, Lyft users can only select one travel partner to earn rewards from at a time. However, customers are able to change their choice by visiting the Rewards section of the Lyft app.

Announcing the new partnership, Lyft’s VP of Strategic Business Development and Supply Chain Zach Greenberger said, “We are thrilled to provide our riders with more benefits and opportunities to enjoy a best-in-class travel experience,” adding, “At Lyft, we’re committed to hospitality and to giving our users the chance to unlock the best value for all their transportation needs – a key purpose embedded in this partnership. The Alaska team’s dedication to customer loyalty and creating a culture of belonging aligns seamlessly with many of the values that we maintain at Lyft.”

As for Alaska, the airline’s SVP of of marketing and guest experience Sangita Woerner said of the offering, “We always want our guests to have a terrific travel experience, even when they’re not flying with us. Our new partnership with Lyft makes sure our flyers are also cared for on the ground as they go places.”

News of Alaska’s partnership with Lyft comes as several other brands have recently announced reciprocal rewards benefits for customers. Among them, Delta Airlines and Starbucks recently unveiled the ability for travelers to earn SkyMiles when making Starbucks purchases as well as score double Stars on Starbucks purchases they make on days when they’re flying Delta. Speaking of Delta, the airline also announced a partnership with the grocery delivery service Instacart in February of this year.

For those who regularly fly Alaska Airlines and take Lyft, this linking opportunity is a no-brainer. Although this partnership does lack a special linking bonus that some other offers of this nature often do, the ability to earn 2x miles through the end of the year is certainly helpful for holiday travelers. So, to get started, travelers can head to the Lyft app or AlaskaLyft.com to begin earning.
