Bilt Revamps Loyalty Status Program for 2024
As the new year approaches, Bilt has announced incoming changes to its loyalty status program.
About the updated status tiers and more:
In 2024, Bilt members will have new ways to earn status as updated requirements go into effect. Here’s what the new tiers look like:
- Silver: 50,000 points or $10,000 (previous: 25,000 points)
- Gold: 125,000 points or $25,000 (previous: 50,000 points)
- Platinum: 200,000 points or $50,000 (previous: 100,000 points)
Notably, while the point thresholds have significantly increased for each level, Bilt has added a Fast Track through spending. This figure will include any purchases made using the Bilt Mastercard — except for rent. It also states that spending “in the Bilt ecosystem on any linked debit or credit card” will qualify. This includes purchases made using Bilt Dining, the Bilt Travel portal, and via a linked Lyft account. Previously, the service has also teased additional Bilt Wallet-powered features were in the works.
Those who don’t qualify for any of these tiers will continue to be Blue status. However, Bilt says that it is also introducing Milestone Rewards. For every 25,000 Bilt Points earned, members will unlock special one-time offerings, such as accelerator earn opportunities, points that can be used toward Bilt Collection redemption, and more.
What Bilt status offers:
As for what status earns you, Bilt members with Silver or higher earn interest on their points. Additionally, those with Gold or Platinum status can take advantage of Bilt’s Homeownership Concierge. Members also receive a complimentary Bilt Collection gift upon qualifying for Platinum status.
Beyond that, Bilt has also made status a significant part of its Rent Day offers. For example, past deals have seen those with higher status earning larger transfer bonuses to travel partners. Similarly, with the debut of Bilt Experiences, elite members were able to make bookings before those with lower or no status.
Finally, Bilt states that it will continue expanding its elite status benefits “in the coming months.”
My thoughts:
It was only a couple of weeks ago that I learned I had achieved Bilt Silver status. To my slight surprise, I was also informed that this status lasts through 2024 (I expected it to expire on January 1st). I mention this because I didn’t expect to reach status in the first place, which impacts my thoughts on the changes.
With that context, I think that status may be more achievable for me under the new model. While the number of points earned needed for Silver has literally doubled, the “Fast Track” spending of $10,000 seems doable. Then again, the exclusion of rent (which is now moot for me) does change the economics significantly.
So it comes down to this: if you’re someone willing to use your Bilt Points via the Bilt Travel portal or, even more so, via transfer partners, then I think this overhaul could work to your benefit. That’s because you can put enough spend on your Bilt Mastercard to earn status and then take advantage of the transfer bonuses Bilt often offers on Rent Day. If that doesn’t describe you, then I also don’t think that these updates are any big loss and the benefits are fairly minimal anyway.
