Point.Me Ranks World’s Best Airline Rewards Programs for 2025

The award travel booking tool Point.Me has released the results of its second annual Airline Loyalty Program Rankings.

About the Rankings:

Point.Me has published its list of the best airline loyalty programs in the world. For these rankings, the site assessed 59 programs in eight key areas:

  • Ease of Earning Miles
  • Redemption Rates
  • Partner Opportunities
  • Redemption Experience
  • Award Availability
  • Award Holds
  • Customer Service Quality
  • Change Fees/Policies

With those guidelines, for the second year in a row, Air France/KLM’s FlyingBlue program was ranked number one. The program was awarded four out of four stars for Ease of Earning Miles, Partner Opportunities, Redemption Experience, Award Availability, and Customer Service quality, while getting three stars in the remaining categories. In total, Flying Blue earned a score of 92.38 (out of 100) on Point.Me’s rubric.

Taking second place this year was American Airlines’ AAdvantage program with a score of 87.63. This runner-up placement marks an improvement of four spots in American’s standings in 2024. Also on the rise was Alaska Airlines, which ranked third this year. The recently-merged airline scored 82.38 points to move up four slots overall. While Alaska earned four stars in five categories, its total was hindered by its one-star showing in the Awards Holds category.

Elsewhere, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club repeated its fourth-place finish, United MileagePlus fell to fifth (down from third last year), British Airways Club placed sixth, and Air Canada Aeroplan landed at seventh after earning the silver medal in 2024. Rounding out the top 10 were JetBlue True Blue, Emirates Skywards, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club.

What They’re Saying:

Commenting on the ranking results, Point.Me Founder and CEO Adam Morvitz remarked, “Getting real value from airline loyalty points is often significantly harder for passengers than it needs to be. These rankings draw on our team’s collective travel expertise and deep data-led insight from our reward search engine.”

Morvitz added, “This data-driven approach empowers travelers to make strategic decisions about where to invest their loyalty, ensuring they’re not just collecting points, but actually maximizing their travel wealth.”

Meanwhile, Flying Blue president and SVP of Customer Loyalty for Air France/KLM Group Benjamin Lipsey said of the airline’s number one ranking, “We are pleased to top the rankings released today by Point.Me… Point.me elevates brand awareness and cultivates a community of avid explorers drawn to the promise of Air France, KLM, and all our partners.”

My Thoughts:

This was an interesting list to dive into. In contrast to the reader-voted USA Today awards that named Allegiant’s Allways Rewards the top airline loyalty program, Point.Me’s rankings look at concrete criteria — in this case, how easy it is to earn, transfer, and redeem points. Through that lens, I’m also not surprised to see Flying Blue performing well, as I’ve regularly heard good things about the program. If there are any surprises, I’d say I expected to see Virgin Atlantic a bit higher since this is another program I hear about frequently in terms of great deals.

Of course, the best airline loyalty program for you will depend on where you’re flying from, where you’re flying to, what credit cards you have, and several other factors. Therefore, while this list may give you a good starting point when it comes to award redemptions, you’ll want to dive a bit deeper before transferring your points on a whim.
