Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card Launches Travel Contest
Chase and Marriott Bonoy have unveiled a special contest while continuing to offer its best-ever welcome bonus.
About the welcome bonus and Bold Chat Court Contest:
Marriott Bonvoy and Chase have launched a special opportunity called the Bold Chat Court contest. As part of this contest, 10 lucky travelers will be awarded 500,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (for a total of 5 million) as well as $5,000. For this contest, the companies are calling in star Halle Bailey to help would-be travelers turn their friends or family group chat vacation plans into reality.
To enter, contestants will need to share an Instagram Reel detailing their dream trip and explaining what’s been holding it up. These Reels must be 60 seconds or less, include a #Contest hashtag in the description, and remain public until at least November 30th. Reels can be submitted by visiting the Bold Chat Court site. Alternatively, written entries are also accepted on the site. Entries can be made once per week between now and October 30th.
Coinciding with this content, new Marriott Bonvoy Bold cardmembers can still earn 60,000 bonus points as well as a Free Night Award (worth up to 50,000 points) after spending $2,000 in purchases on the card within the first three months. With a combined value of up to 110,000 points, this amounts to the card’s highest-ever welcome bonus.
More on the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card:
With the no-annual-fee Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card, customers can earn up to 14x points on purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties — including 3x from the card itself. Plus, the card earns 2x points at grocery stores, 2x on points rideshares, 2x points on select food delivery services, and 2x on select streaming, internet, cable, and phone service purchases. All other purchases earn 1x points.
In terms of benefits, Bold cardmembers earn automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Status as well as 5 Elite Night Credits each calendar year, allowing them to work toward even higher status. Additionally, as rolled out with the card’s refresh in July, cardholders may now have access to a feature called Travel Now, Pay Later. With this option, purchases between $100 and $5,000 made directly with airlines or participating Marriott Bonvoy properties can be broken up into equal monthly payments with no interest or plan fees. However, it should be noted that not all cardholders may have access to this feature.
What they’re saying:
Commenting on the Bold Court Contest and the idea behind it, Bailey said, “Travel has always been a source of immense joy for me, especially when shared with friends and loved ones but planning those trips and actually making them happen can be so challenging. There’s something really special about exploring new places, trying new foods and learning about different cultures and music, which is why I’m thrilled to partner with the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase to extend my passion for travel to others and help get some trips out of the chat!”
My thoughts:
First, I’d love to win this Bold Chat Court Contest… but I didn’t realize so many people planned vacations with friends. I guess I’m just too old to appreciate this dynamic. If my text history with my wife counts, then I could definitely enter in hopes of scoring an impressive number of points and a generous cash prize.
Of course, since the odds of winning this contest are slim, let’s talk about the continuing card offer instead. For a card with no annual fee, this welcome bonus is pretty strong. Even if you value Marriott Bonvoy points at closer to 0.8¢ each (as opposed to 1¢ like with other point currencies), that’s still almost $900 in potential value — and for a reasonable $2,000 in spending. That may be reason enough for some to get the card even if the core product isn’t much to write home about.
