JetBlue Premier Card Launches 100,000-Point Welcome Offer
JetBlue’s enhanced Premier World Elite Mastercard is now live, accompanied by an elevated welcome offer.
About the JetBlue Premier Card Welcome Offer:
Those applying for Barclays’ JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard can now score an increased bonus. Currently, new cardholders can earn 100,000 TrueBlue points after spending at least $5,000 on the card during the first three months. For comparison, when the card intially debuted last year, it launched with a 70,000-point offer for $5,000 in spending (although it also featured 5 tiles toward Mosaic qualification, which are not part of the latest offer).
This updated offer’s arrival coincides with some of the official launch of some recently announced improvements to the Premier card. For one, the card’s travel credit has been updated, now allowing customers to earn up to $300 in annual statement credits when they use the card to book hotels, car rentals, cruises, and more via TrueBlue, with no minimum spending requirement. The card now also features an award travel rebate, allowing flyers to earn a 15% rebate on flights they book using TrueBlue points. That perk applied to JetBlue flights as well as partner airlines.
Another major addition to the JetBlue Premier card is the opportunity for cardholders to unlock a companion pass credit. Now, cardholders can earn a companion pass valued at up to $500 after spending at least $15,000 on the card in a calendar year. Moreover, those who spend at least $75,000 on the card can earn an additional companion pass worth up to $1,500.
Lastly, at the start of each calendar year, JetBlue Premier cardholders will automatically earn a 25-tile bonus. This will put them halfway toward earning Mosaic 1 status.
With the JetBlue Premier card, flyers continue to enjoy access to JetBlue BlueHouse lounges as well as other airport lounges via Priority Pass Select. The card also includes Group A priority boarding, a complimentary first checked bag (for the main cardholders and up to three travel companions on the same reservations), and other perks. In terms of rewards, the card earns 6x TrueBlue points on JetBlue purchases, 2x at restaurants, 2x at eligible grocery stores, and 1x on all other purchases. The JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard does carry an annual fee of $499.
My Thoughts:
It makes sense that JetBlue and Barclays would want to launch this vastly improved card with an improved welcome bonus — and offering a 100K deal is certainly a way to get eyeballs in the credit card community. With various sites valuing JetBlue TrueBlue points at around 1.3¢ each, that means that this new offer is worth approximately $1,300 for only $5,000 in spending (not to mention the 15% point rebate). Still, though, the card’s $499 annual fee is pretty steep for what you get, making this a card that only those who are true JetBlue loyalists should likely consider.
