Capital One Brings Back 100K Welcome Offer for Venture X Card

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Capital One is boasting an enhanced welcome offer for one of its most popular rewards cards.

About the Venture X Welcome Bonus Offer:

For the first time since the Capital One Venture X launched in 2021, the card is offering a six-figure welcome bonus. Currently, new cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 or more on the card within their first six months. For context, the standard offer for the Venture X has been 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 on the card within three months.

More on the Capital One Venture X:

The Capital One Venture X marked the bank’s entry into the premium travel card market. While the Venture X carries a $395 annual fee, it includes credits, perks, and other benefits that make it attractive.

First, cardholders can utilize a $300 annual travel credit for bookings on Capital One Travel. Note that this credit resets on your cardholder’s anniversary rather than at the end of the calendar year. Speaking of anniversaries, cardholders receive 10,000 bonus miles each cardholder year when they renew, starting with their first anniversary. Elsewhere, cardmembers can earn up to $120 toward a Global Entry or TSA Precheck application fee.

One key perk of the Venture X is its lounge access. In addition to offering a Priority Pass Select, Venture X customers enjoy complimentary access to Capital One Lounges (including Capital One Landing locations).

Lastly, in terms of rewards, the Venture X earns 2x on all purchases. Additionally, cardholders can earn 10x on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel as well as 5x on flights and vacation rentals booked on the platform.

With these earned miles, cardholders can redeem them toward any travel purchase. Alternatively, Capital One maintains a stable of transfer partners, allowing members to convert their miles to hotel and airline program points.

My Thoughts:

Whenever you get a welcome bonus with six digits, credit card fans get excited. That’s the case with this latest Capital One Venture X offer — especially because it’s been a while since the card’s bonus reached these heights. Of course, the catch is that this offer requires much more spending than the standard offer. The upside is that you do have twice as long to reach the minimum. Plus, since the Venture X offers 2x on all purchases, it makes it pretty easy to put purchases on this card over other options you may have in your wallet (at least for “generic” spending).

Overall, if you’ve been eyeing the Capital One Venture X card, this may be a good time to pick it up. Plus, if you’re doing any holiday travel, then the $300 credit that comes with the card could be useful.

P.S. If you are curious about the regular Capital One Venture card instead, you can check out my review of that product.
