Bank of America Unveils FIFA World Cup 2026 Card Designs

With Bank of America being the Official Bank of FIFA World Cup 2026, the issuer has announced two World Cup-inspired limited-edition credit card designs.

About the Limited Edition FIFA World Cup 2026 Cards:

In celebration of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, Bank of America is inviting cardholders to commemorate the occasion. Now, new Customized Cash Rewards and Unlimited Cash Rewards applicants can opt for a special World Cup card design. Both designs feature the iconic World Cup trophy, with a red background for the Customized Cash Rewards card and a silver background for the Unlimited Cash Rewards card. These designs will be available until July 2026.

As mentioned, BofA is the Official Bank of FIFA World Cup 2026 while Visa is the Official Payment provider.

Beyond the special card designs, BofA is also giving customers a chance to score tickets for the World Cup. Clients who open a new Cash Rewards card or Unlimited Cash Rewards card can purchase up to two tickets to select FIFA World Cup matches. Specifically, those who apply between now and January 5th, 2026 will be eligible. Ticket sales for this offer will begin on February 10th.

About the Customized Cash Rewards and Unlimited Cash Rewards Cards:

The Customized Cash Rewards and Unlimited Cash Rewards Visas are two of Bank of America’s signature cards.

First, with the Customized Cash Rewards card, customers can earn 3% in one of these selected categories:

  • Gas and EV charging stations
  • Online shopping/cable/internet/phone plans/streaming
  • Dining
  • Travel
  • Drug stores/pharmacies
  • Home improvement/furnishings

Additionally, cardholders can earn 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. However, the 3% and 2% rates are capped at a total of $2,500 in spending per quarter. All other purchases (including those above the cap) earn 1% back.

Currently, new Customized Cash Rewards card customers can earn a bonus 3% back on their selected category (for a total of 6% back) for their first year. On top of that, they can earn a $200 bonus after spending at least $1,000 in purchases on the card within their first 90 days.

As for the Unlimited Cash Rewards card, it earns unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases. Although similar to the Customized Cash Rewards offer, new cardholders can currently earn 2% back during their first year. That increased rate comes in addition to a welcome bonus of $200 after spending at least $1,000 in the first 90 days from account opening.

My Thoughts:

For soccer fans, these limited edition card designs will surely be attractive — and could bring some new attention to BofA’s rewards card. However, I see no mention of how current Bank of America customers can claim the cards, nor does it seem that they’re included in the ticket purchase offer. That has to be a huge bummer for fans who have been loyal to Bank of America and (seemingly) won’t get to benefit from this partnership.

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi. That was later sent into overdrive as the company has not only become a household name thanks to its stadium naming rights deal but also because of the company’s continued product expansions. The most interesting development in my mind is SoFi’s acquisition of Golden Pacific...
