Avelo Airlines Introduces Rewards Credit Card with Cardless

An airline known for servicing smaller airports is now launching its own co-branded credit card.

About the Avelo Airlines Mastercard:

This week, Avelo Airlines announced the debut of the Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard. The new card was created in partnership with Cardless and is being issued by First Electronic Bank.

With the new card, customers can earn Avelo Cash. Specifically, the card earns 5% in rewards on Avelo purchases while all other purchases earn 2%.

In addition to those rewards, the Avelo Airlines Mastercard also includes some key perks. First, cardholders enjoy one free carry-on bag. Additionally, they can claim a free standard seat assignment and take advantage of complimentary priority boarding.

To celebrate the launch, Avelo is also offering a special welcome bonus for the card. Currently, new cardholders can earn 25,000 points ($250 in Avelo Cash) after spending $1,000 in purchases on the card within their first 90 days.

The Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard carries an annual fee of $99.

What They’re Saying:

Announcing the new card, Avelo Airlines founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “With three decades of experience in aviation, I’ve seen legacy bank partnerships consistently fall short of what airlines and customers truly need. When Cardless demonstrated what their platform could deliver — the speed, control, personalization, and seamless integration with our loyalty program — I was impressed.”

Levy continued, “This is the future of airline financial products, and we’re bringing it to our customers today while continuing our purpose of inspiring travel through convenience, affordability, and industry-leading reliability.”

Meanwhile, Cardless co-founder and president Michael Spelfogel said, “Historically, airlines have left billions on the table because banks struggle to keep up in a modern, AI-powered world. Avelo is proving that a startup airline can embrace game-changing technologies and leapfrog ahead… We’re so proud to help power Avelo’s disruption and overhaul of airline rewards, and we expect other carriers to follow in their lead.”

My Thoughts:

I was curious how much the perks of the Avelo Airline Mastercard would be worth, so I punched up a dummy flight from Wilmington, DE to Lakeland, FL and back. As it turns out, the carry-on bag would cost $35 each way while the top standard-tier seat was $30 per flight. That means cardholders might save $130 with just one round-trip flight — which is $31 more than the annual fee. Not to mention, I didn’t even look up priority boarding pricing.

Based on that information, if you fly Avelo with any frequency whatsoever, this may be worth picking up for the benefits alone!
