SoFi to Bring Future Wealth Summit Events to College Campuses

FinTech turned bank SoFi is celebrating Financial Literacy Month with a college campus tour.

About SoFi’s Future Wealth Summit:

SoFi has announced the launch of the Future Wealth Summit. This campus tour will visit more than 30 colleges/universities across the nation during the month of April — which is National Financial Literacy Month. Additionally, a flagship event will take place at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey on April 24th.

According to SoFi, each stop on the tour will feature activations crafted toward each school’s “unique culture and student community.” For example, activations will range in size, accommodating between 50 and 3,000 students each. The bank also notes that author Vivian Tu created original content for these events, with topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management all covered.

In addition to these Summit stops, SoFi is also launching a special sweepstakes. The Fund Your Future sweepstakes will see more than 60 students winning cash prizes ranging from $500 to $5,000. In total, $45,000 will be awarded. Entries must be submitted by June 1st. To enter, students can provide their name, email, address, and school name. However, those who open new SoFi accounts can gain bonus entries.

What They’re Saying:

Announcing these Future Wealth Summit events, Vivian Tu (who also serves as SoFi’s Chief of Financial Empowerment) said, “I hear from students all the time who want to feel more confident about their money, whether it’s student loans, credit cards, or just knowing where to start. This Summit is about giving them actionable, real-world guidance they can use right away to start making smarter financial decisions.”

Additionally, SoFi CMO Lauren Stafford Webb stated, “At SoFi, we’re committed to helping students achieve their higher education goals while building a strong financial future for themselves. Students today are making some of the most important financial decisions of their lives, often without the guidance they need,” adding, “By providing them with practical education and tools like banking, credit monitoring, and investing, we’re helping them put that knowledge into action early.”

My Thoughts:

Random personal note: my father happens to be a Rutgers alum and my wife’s best friend is as well. As for me, I didn’t graduate college…

Anyway, while details about these financial summits are scant, I’m a fan of them in theory. On the other hand, there have long been accusations about financial institutions showing up on college campuses and taking advantage of impressionable young adults. I don’t think that’s what SoFi is doing here, but I can understand the skepticism — and it doesn’t exactly help that the contest tied to this promotion encourages new accounts (although not debit-incurring products such as credit cards). Personally, I’m hoping we see some more from the flagship event so I can form a better opinion about the whole thing.

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi.
