Bilt Launches JAL Transfer Bonus for March 2026 Rent Day
Bilt 2.0 has arrived — and now the first Rent Day of the new era has been revealed.
About the Japan Airlines Transfer Bonus
On March 1st, Bilt members can score up to a 125% bonus when transferring points to Japan Airlines (JAL). As usual, the size of the bonus will vary based on members’ Bilt status. Here’s a look at the bonus brackets for this offer:
- Blue (entry level): 25%
- Silver: 50%
- Gold: 75%
- Platinum: 100%
With Bilt 2.0 fully underway, Bilt Members can now redeem their Bilt Cash to temporarily increase their status and earn a higher bonus. While these fees will vary, for this offer, members can spend $135 Bilt Cash to move up a tier. Those with Platinum status can use this option to upgrade to a 125% bonus.
Bilt Points typically transfer to JAL at a rate of 1:1, meaning 1,000 Bilt Points convert to 1,000 JAL Mileage Bank Miles. Thus, with this offer, Platinum members who use their Bilt Cash to upgrade could see a rate of 2.250:1, earning 2,250 Milebank Miles for every 1,000 Bilt Points.
As a reminder, if your JAL Mileage Bank account is less than 60 days old, a 7-day hold on miles may apply, meaning that members will not be able to make award bookings during that time.
More on Rent Day for March 2026:
Despite the move to Bilt 2.0, March’s Rent Day offerings remain similar to past iterations. That includes the return of the Rent Free game show where members can win free rent. This month’s guest is Chef Thomas Keller, who is also offering a special Culinary Collection to Bilt members. Members can purchase this collection (which includes three items in each order) for $20 or 1,500 Bilt Points. Shipping fees may also apply.
Meanwhile, Bilt credit card customers can earn double points on all non-housing purchases on March 1st. For Bilt Blue cardholders, that means 2x points on all purchases aside from housing payments, while Bilt Obsidian customers can earn 6x points on either dining purchases or grocery purchases (depending on which category they’ve selected, 4x on travel purchases, and 2x on all other purchases aside from housing payments. Finally, on Rent Day, those with the Bilt Palladium card can earn 4x points on all non-housing payment purchases. However, bonus points are capped at a total of 1,000 per Rent Day.
My Thoughts:
First, I’m glad to see that there aren’t any major changes to Rent Day under the BIlt 2.0 model so far. That’s great news overall.
However, there is one change worth noting, which is the addition of the Bilt Cash upgrade option. We knew this was coming, but this is the first time we’ve seen real figures. And… I’m underwhelmed?
To me, $135 (even in Bilt Cash) does sound pretty steep for an upgrade. Then again, if you are transferring a significant number of points, then perhaps the math will work out for you. On that note, I’d highly recommend running the numbers and making sure that such a plan would be a good deal for you. Furthermore, as always, it’s typically not advisable to transfer points speculatively. In other words, unless you have a specific redemption in mind, you may want to hold off on converting your points.
