Wells Fargo Offering Enhanced Bonuses for One Key Cards
Wells Fargo has unveiled limited-time welcome offers for both of its One Key co-branded credit cards.
About the bonuses:
Those who have had their eyes on One Key’s rewards credit card options may want to take advantage of the increased bonuses that are available now. Currently, new One Key cardholders can earn $400 in OneKeyCash after spending $1,000 in purchases on the card within their first three months. Meanwhile, those who apply and are approved for the One Key+ card can earn $600 OneKey Cash after spending $3,000 on the card within three months. These bonuses are up from the standard $300 and $400 bonuses respectively.
OneKey Cash can be redeemed for flights, hotel bookings, or vacation rentals on Expedia, Hotels.com, or VRBO.
About the One Key and One Key+ cards:
Unveiled last summer, the One Key and One Key+ cards bring together Expedia Group’s brands and allow travelers to earn rewards on bookings as well as everyday purchases.
With the no annual fee One Key card, customers can earn 3% back in OneKey Cash on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo purchases. Additionally, cardholders earn 3% rewards at gas stations, 3% at restaurants, and 3% on food delivery. All other purchases earn 1.5% in rewards. One Key card customers also earn automatic Silver status, which includes savings of 15% or more on more than 10,000 hotels worldwide. Those who spend at least $15,000 per calendar year on their card can unlock Gold status as well.
As for the One Key+ card, it offers the same rewards rates on bookings, gas station purchases, restaurants, and food delivery. However, it increases the rewards rate on all other purchases to 2%. Plus, One Key+ customers earn automatic Gold status, offering them savings of 20% or more on select hotel bookings. Cardholders can earn Platinum status when they spend at least $30,000 on their card in a calendar year.
The One Key+ card includes other benefits for cardholders as well. Each anniversary year, customers will earn a $100 OneKey Cash bonus. Additionally, cardholders can receive a statement credit for up to $120 for TSA Precheck or Global Entry application fees. However, the One Key+ card does carry a $99 annual fee.
My thoughts:
Speaking as someone who prefers to book directly with airlines or hotels when possible (or using Amex Travel to earn 5x on my Platinium card), the One Key card doesn’t fit the bill for me. Plus, since the cards only earn OneKey Cash instead of regular cashback, you’ll need to be a regular Expedia, Hotels.com, or VRBO booker in order for the product to sense for you. But, as I said at the top, if you have been eyeing either of these cards, the current welcome bonuses are fairly attractive. That’s especially true of the One Key+ card as the $600 bonus will more than cover the annual fee in year one, while the $100 OneKey Cash anniversary bonus will make up for the cost in subsequent years.
Since it’s not clear when these enhanced bonuses will end, those interested should probably apply as soon as possible.
