Credit One Relaunches Wader Card on American Express Network
Credit One has updated one of its rewards cards to operate on the Amex network.
About the Wander card and update:
One of Credit One’s (not to be confused with Capital One) cards is getting a slight name change. Now, the official name of the Wander card will be the Credit One Bank Wander American Express card. As that moniker suggests, the card will now utilize the American Express payment network versus Visa, which it previously used.
With the change, Wander cardholders will now be entitled to American Express network perks. This includes savings and benefits with car rental companies such as SIXT, Hertz, and Avis. Additionally, cardholders enjoy Car Rental Loss & Damage Insurance (secondary insurance), Worldwide Travel Accident Insurance, and more.
As for what the Wander card itself offers, cardholders can earn 10x points on eligible hotel and car rental purchases made using the Credit One Bank travel portal (which is powered by Priceline). Additionally, the card earns 5x points on other eligible travel, 5x on dining purchases, and 5x on gas purchases. All other purchases earn 1 point per dollar spent.
Of note, the Wander card does carry a $95 annual fee. Additionally, unlike some Credit One products, this card is designed for those who have average to excellent credit. There also does not appear to be any welcome bonus offered for the Credit One Bank Wander American Express card at this time.

Commenting on this update, Amex’s SVP of Global Network Services William Stredwick said, “Credit One Bank and American Express have partnered together to create fantastic travel benefits for Wander cardmembers. Through this collaboration, cardmembers can be proud to own the Wander American Express card for travel.”
My thoughts:
Technically, this is already the second time Credit One has revamped the Wander card — although the first time was much more drastic. In 2022, the bank completely overhauled the card less than a year after introducing it. Originally, the Wander card offered unique perks such as 5x points on eligible recreational and amusement park purchases and a welcome bonus that included a National Park Pass.
In any case, this update to Amex probably won’t mean much for cardholders. As for those who aren’t cardholders, the Wander card is actually a bit more interesting than most Credit One cards — but has some major downsides including the annual fee, as well as the lack of a welcome bonus. Therefore, while the perks may be attractive overall, there are likely better options for travelers.
