Capital One Venture Launches Enhanced Limited-Time Offer

With the summer travel season still well underway, a popular rewards credit card is offering a generous welcome bonus to new cardholders.

About the offer:

For a limited time, the Capital One Venture card will feature an elevated and lucrative welcome bonus. First, new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after they spend at least $4,000 on the card within their first three months. On top of that, those who meet this spending requirement will also earn a $250 bonus to use on Capital One Travel. In total, this bonus offer translates to $1,000 in travel for new Venture customers.

About the Capital One Venture Rewards card:

With the Capital One Venture card, customers can earn unlimited 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases regardless of category. Plus, Venture users also earn 5x miles on hotel and rental car bookings made via Capital One travel. These miles can then be redeemed for travel purchases or transferred to one of Capital One’s 15 travel partners.

The Capital One Venture Rewards card does carry a $95 annual fee, which is not waived for the first year.

This new offer for the Capital One Venture card comes as another Capital One credit card is seemingly on its way to being discontinued. The bank has announced that, as of today, it will no longer accept new applications for the Capital One Savor card. However, the no-annual-fee Capital One SavorOne remains available.

The Savor card, which has a $95 annual fee, offers 4% cashback on dining, selection streaming services, and entertainment as well as 3% at grocery stores. Meanwhile, the SavorOne offers 3% back on all of the above categories.

My thoughts:

Whenever a credit card (at least one with a low annual fee) offers a 100,000-point bonus, it’s a pretty big deal. While this isn’t technically that, it is basically the equivalent — even if a quarter of it is restricted to Capital One Travel bookings. In other words, this is a stellar offer that may be worth considering.

As for the Savor news, I’m not really surprised that they’ve halted new applications for the card. I’ve always thought that the SavorOne was a much stronger product and that the 1 percentage point boost you got for the $95 annual fee just wasn’t worth the upgrade. Now I’m curious to see if they end up revamping the Savor card or just product-change customers into other options down the road.

Clearly, it’s already an intriguing week for Capital One, so we’ll see what happens next.

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi. That was later sent into overdrive as the company has not only become a household name thanks to its stadium naming rights deal but also because of the company’s continued product expansions. The most interesting development in my mind is SoFi’s acquisition of Golden Pacific...
