Amazon Prime Day Returning July 16 and 17

The 10th Amazon Prime Day will be held next month, bringing millions of deals to Prime members.

About the upcoming Prime Day:

Amazon’s popular Prime Day will return on July 16th and 17th. The latest event will be offered in the United States as well as the United Kingdom, France, Japan, and more than a dozen other countries on these dates. However, Prime Day will be celebrated in India later this summer.

As part of Prime Day, Prime members will have exclusive access to special deals in 35 categories. According to the online retailers, during the event, new deals will unlock as often as every five minutes. Amazon has also previewed in-demand deals such as 40% off Sony wireless headphones and up to 30% off Peleton products. Since these particular offers are invite-only, members can request an invitation for a chance to buy. Other brands being teased for Prime Day deals include new-to-Amazon additions such as Clinique, Allbirds, and Kiehl’s as well as other popular products, including KitchenAid kitchen tools and Coach handbags.

Also as part of the extended Prime Day celebration, Amazon will offer special welcome bonuses for their co-brand credit cards. From June 28th through July 24th, Prime members can get a $200 Amazon gift card when they’re approved for the Prime Visa. Alternatively, Prime members applying for the Prime Store Card can earn an $80 Amazon gift card upon approval. However, this latter bonus will have a shorter window, being offered from July 12th through July 17th.

For those who aren’t Prime members, Amazon does offer a 30-day free trial. Customers on this trial will still have access to member-exclusive deals and other Prime perks.

What they’re saying:

Announcing the latest shopping event, Amazon Prime VP Jamil Ghan said, “Prime Day is a celebration of the value we bring to members all year long, and features millions of deals across more than 35 product categories as well as discounts on Amazon devices, quality entertainment, groceries, travel, and more during the event. In fact, over the course of last year, Amazon customers saved nearly $24 billion from deals and coupons—with Prime members enjoying the vast majority of those savings—including over $2.5 billion during Prime Day 2023.”

My thoughts:

In my experience, Prime Day can be hit or miss — mainly because new deals are always arriving, so keeping up can be annoying. Obviously, Amazon would love for you to spend July 16th and 17th on the site to prevent FOMO, but I just can’t get on board with that plan.

Ultimately, for those with items on their shopping list already, Amazon Prime Day might just end up saving them money if the products they need go on sale. However, in spite of potential “deals,” shoppers should continue to consider whether or not they actually need a given item. Furthermore, while it may be tempting to join Prime for these deals, be sure to consider the other benefits of the service and whether or not it makes sense for you before taking on the annual/monthly fee.

2025 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi.
