Credit One Releases New NASCAR American Express Credit Card

A credit card that already displayed the red, white, and blue on its design is getting even more American as Credit One has announced the launch of the new NASCAR American Express Card. Previously, Credit One’s NASCAR co-branded card was a Visa. However, with American Express joining as the Official Credit Card Payment Network of NASCAR starting with the 2022 season, the updated card will operate on the Amex network — and bears some revamped aspects. To celebrate the news, a Credit One Bank and American Express-themed pace car even made its debut at the Busch Light Clash earlier this week.

Credit One NASCAR American Express Card

Like many other Credit One offerings, the NASCAR American Express Card actually has two slightly different versions. While those with “excellent credit” can apply for the card with no annual fee, those with “average credit” will be assessed a $39 annual fee.

As for rewards. the Credit One NASCAR card earns a flat 1% cashback on all purchases. However, the card does offer additional perks for fans, such as discounts on select NASCAR race tickets as well as on parking, other merchant purchases, race experiences, and more.

Cardholders will also enjoy a complimentary subscription to the Scanner feature (accessible via desktop or the NASCAR app), allowing them to access live in-car audio from all 40 drivers during each NASCAR Cup Series race. Typically, this feature comes at a cost of $2.99 per month or $19.99 per year.

Commenting on the updated NASCAR offering and the partnership with Amex, the Head of American Express and NASCAR Partnership Marketing at Credit One Bank Mamta Kapoor stated, “Helping our customers access more of what they love is a tenet of everything we do. NASCAR has some of the most passionate fans in the world.”

Kapoor continued, “We are proud to continue to give those superfans unique opportunities to earn cashback rewards while gaining access to exclusive experiences with their new Credit One Bank NASCAR American Express Card.”

Overall, despite the revamp, the Credit One NASCAR card is a fairly lackluster card — even for die-hard NASCAR fans. For example, if customers are required to pay a $39 annual fee, they’ll already be paying double what the Scanner feature costs on its own. Meanwhile, there are several other cards (including secured ones) that offer more than 1% cashback across the board. Therefore, unless you’re able to save a lot with the NASCAR discounts, this might not be a great option. But, for those who just can’t resist representing NASCAR every time they make a purchase, then perhaps these downsides won’t slow them down.
