Bank of America and Grubhub Partner for New Cardholder Benefit

Bank of America and Grubhub Partner for New Cardholder Benefit

Hungry Bank of America customers looking for a discount on their food delivery may be in luck. Now, select BofA cardholders will be able to claim one year of Grubhub’s Grubhub+ service for free. With Grubhub+, they’ll receive free delivery on orders over $12, donation matching when they round up their change for charity, and more.

The one-year extended free trial is available to eligible BofA credit, debit, and small business card customers who are not already Grubhub+ customers. However, even those who aren’t eligible will receive a perk from this partnership as they’ll be able to get $5 off their next three orders of $15 or more. Cardholders can activate their trial on Grubhubs’s special BofA site. Note that, after the one-year trial has expired, the membership will automatically renew at a cost of $9.99 a month — although customers can cancel at any time.

Commenting on the partnership, Grubhub’s VP of loyalty Launika Raykar said, “We’re excited to team up with Bank of America to provide even greater value to their cardholders and introduce them to the Grubhub Marketplace,” adding, “This is truly a win-win, with Bank of America now rewarding cardholders with deals and perks from restaurants they will love, and Grubhub tapping into Bank of America’s loyal and vast customer base to drive even more orders to restaurant owners and drivers.”

Bank of America’s deal with Grubhub is the latest in a string of arrangements made between banks and popular delivery services. For example, select Chase credit card customers can currently get up to one year of Instacart+ for free. This offer came ahead of the bank launching an Instacart co-branded Mastercard last month. As for Grubhub, in July, it was also announced that Amazon Prime members could also unlock one free year of Grubhub+.

Overall, offers like this BofA Grubhub+ one can be a win for consumers who may already use the base version of these delivery services. At the same time, there are a few things to watch out for when signing up. First, while free delivery can be a useful perk, be aware that prices on these apps are typically higher than if you were to purchase directly from the store. Secondly, consumers will likely want to make note of their renewal date and set a reminder to cancel before then if they don’t want to pay out of pocket. With those warnings out of the way, Bank of America cardholders interested in this deal can activate the offer before by April 20th, 2023.
