Mesa Adds Two More Transfer Partners to Homeowners Card
The Mesa Homeowners card is expanding its travel transfer partner program.
About Mesa’s Latest Travel Transfer Partners:
Recently, Mesa added two more transfer partners to its platform: Air Canada and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines). As a result, Mesa customers can now transfer points to either program at a rate of 1:1 — meaning that 1,000 Mesa Points can be turned into 1,000 Aeroplan points or EuroBonus points. To get started, members can go to the Rewards tab of the Mesa app, select Points Transfer, and choose their preferred partner in order to link their account. Note that a minimum transfer of 1,000 points applies and points must be transferred in increments of 100.
Currently, Aeroplan maintains transfer partnerships with American Express, Barclays, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, and Chase (which also issues an Air Canada co-branded card for the U.S. market). In contrast, Mesa is now the only credit card in the United States that offers point transfers to SAS EuroBonus.
Mesa rolled out its initial slate of points transfer partners in April. With these new additions, their roster now includes 10 programs. While most of these options have 1:1 transfer rates, the exception is Accor Live Limitless, which transfers at a rate of 3:2 (3,000 Mesa points to 2,000 ALL points). According to Mesa, most of transfers are completed within one business day, although some programs may take as long as five business days to complete.
More on the Mesa Homeowners Card:
Launched earlier this year, the Mesa Homeowners Card not only allows cardholders to earn rewards on home-related purchases but also offers points-earnings on mortgage payments. Customers can earn 1 point per $1 spent on their mortgage (up to 100,000 points per year) after spending at least $1,000 in purchases on the card during their billing cycle. However, these mortgage payments aren’t charged to the card itself. Instead, members can link the bank account they make payments from in order to earn their points.
The Mesa Homeowners Card also earns 3x points on “home & family expenses” including home improvement, decor, maintenance, utilities, and daycare. Additionally, the card earns 2x points on groceries and 2x points on gas/EV charging. All other purchases earn 1x points. In addition to the transfer option, points can then be redeemed (at varying values) for statement credits, gift cards, or travel. Mesa also plans to launch a mortgage payments redemption option “soon.”
While the card has no annual fee, it features a number of credits for cardholders. These include a complimentary big box membership, up to $120 per year in Lowe’s credits, up to $200 a year in credits for Thumbtack, up to $120 in credits per year for Wag, and more.
My Thoughts:
I continue to be impressed with how quickly Mesa is evolving its Homeowners Card. What’s more, as far as I can remember, all of these updates have been positive ones. Meanwhile, as we continue to wait for Bilt to add its mortgage payments feature, I can’t help but wonder if Mesa is ending up with more of a runway than they expected.
As for these partners specifically, I’m not personally too familiar with SAS (although I’ve definitely seen the name). However, I’ve often heard that Aeroplan is a well-regarded point currency. That would suggest that these are good “gets” for Mesa as they build up their roster. I’m looking forward to seeing what they add next!
