Concerto Launches Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Mastercard

The FinTech credit card issuer Concerto has announced its latest offering for fans of America’s pastime. Specifically, the new rewards card is aimed at those in the City of Brotherly Love and beyond who are loyal to the Phillies. Starting this week, fans can sign up for the Philidelphia Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Mastercard.

Starting with the card’s rewards, cardholders will earn 4 points per dollar spent at Citizens Bank Park (the Phillies’ home field). On top of that, the card earns 3x points on gas, 3x points on travel purchases, and 2x points on all other purchases. These points can then be redeemed for game tickets, merchandise, memorabilia, and more. Plus, cardholders will have a chance to redeem points for exclusive experiences, such as watching batting practice from the field, meeting legendary players, and even throwing out the first pitch.

With the launch of the Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Mastercard, Concerto is also offering a welcome bonus. Currently, new cardholders can earn 5,000 bonus points after they spend at least $250 in purchases on the card within their first 90 days.

Interestingly, in a press release about the new card, Concerto notes that its underwriting models will allow them to make the card more available to “Phillies fans across the FICO spectrum.” This includes from subprime through superprime. As a result, a greater number of fans will be able to qualify for the card and enjoy its loyalty benefits.

Announcing the new card, the Phillies’ SVP of Partnership Sales & Corporate Marketing Jackie Cuddeback said, “The Philadelphia Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Mastercard is a terrific program that further enhances the fan experience. This is a great benefit to our fans, giving them the opportunity to redeem once-in-a-lifetime rewards such as throwing out the first pitch, exclusive meet and greets, and much more.”

Meanwhile, Concerto’s Head of Business Development Matthew Tomko said of working with the organization, “We are delighted to launch the Philadelphia Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Mastercard in partnership with the reigning National League Champions. We are excited to engage this passionate fan base and bring them closer to the club with once-in-a-lifetime experiences.”

Looking at the rewards categories offered, the Phillies Clubhouse Rewards Card seems like a pretty solid option on the surface — especially given the 2x point base. However, the downside is that it’s not clear exactly what those points are worth or whether they’ll even be redeemable for cashback/statement credits. Of course, for Phillies megafans, having a card that could allow them to enjoy rare opportunities may make it worth it to them. And, to be fair, these are the types of people that Concerto is targeting with this offering. As for everyone else, the Phillies card seems to strike out.
