Capital One has brought back an enhanced bonus offer for its popular Venture Rewards card.

About the bonus:

For a limited time, new Capital One Venture Rewards customers can earn a welcome bonus worth up to $1,000 in travel. This offer includes two lucrative components.

First up, cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles when they spend at least $4,000 in purchases on the card within their first three months from account opening. Then on top of that, customers can enjoy a $250 credit to be used on travel bookings made via Capital One Travel. This credit must be used during the cardholder’s first year.

Capital One Venture Card

About the Venture Rewards Card:

With the Capital One Venture card, customers can earn 2 miles per $1 spent on any purchase. Cardholders can also earn 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. Plus, these earning rates are unlimited.

These miles can then be redeemed for travel purchases as well as cash back, gift cards, and more. Alternatively, Capital One maintains a stable of 19 travel transfer partners, allowing cardholders to transfer their miles to various loyalty programs. Some examples include JetBlueTrueBlue, Air Canada Aeroplan, Emirates Skywards, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Virgin Red, Wyndham Rewards, and more. Of note, while most Capital One transfer partner rates are 1:1, other ratios (including 2:1.5, 5:3, or 2:1) may apply.

As a Venture cardholder, you can also visit Capital One Lounge locations at a cost of $45 per person. The newest Capital One Lounge recently opened at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) with other locations found in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), and Washington Dulles (IAD) as well as a Capital One Landing Location at Ronald Regan Washington (DCA). A Capital One Lounge location at JFK and a Capital One Landing location at LaGuardia (LGA) are expected to open soon.

The Capital One Venture Rewards card does carry a $95 annual fee. However, it does not charge any foreign transaction fees.

My thoughts:

As I said when this particular offer came around last summer, I think this is a great deal overall. In particular, I think this is a great offer and card for those looking for a simple travel card with a reasonable annual fee. That’s because the Venture Rewards card offers a ton of flexibility, allowing cardholders to redeem for cashback, use miles toward travel, or explore the world of transferable loyalty currencies to potentially see even greater value. Plus, while $45 entry may not be the best deal on its own, this per-visit rate to Capital One Lounges gives cardholders the chance to check out one of these locations and consider whether they might want to upgrade to the Capital One Venture X card in the future.

All in all, though, this is a solid offer — and one I think you should jump on if you’ve been considering the Capital One Venture card.

2024 SoFi Checking and Savings Review

Ever since I started taking an interest in the FinTech sector, one company whose name I’ve seen pop up over and over again is SoFi.
