Bilt Rewards Announces August Rent Day Offer, New Game Show

Bilt Rewards has announced its Rent Day promotions for August, which include a transfer bonus for Virgin Atlantic as well as the arrival of a new game show.

About the transfer bonus:

First up this month, Bilt Rewards members can enjoy a bonus of up to 150% when transferring their points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club/Virgin Red. Unlike some past transfer promotions, the value of this bonus will vary by Bilt Status. Those at Blue status (the entry level) can enjoy a 75% bonus, meaning that 1,000 Bilt Points can be redeemed for 1,750 Virgin Points. Meanwhile, those at the Silver level can take advantage of a 100% bonus, Gold members can get a 125% bonus, and those with Platinum status can earn a 150% bonus.

Bilt Status tiers are determined by the number of points members earn per calendar year, with Silver kicking in at 25,000 points followed by Gold and Platinum at 50,000 and 100,000 points respectively. Members can see their current status and what transfer bonus they qualify for by visiting the Bilt app, navigating to the Rent Day tab, and selecting the Virgin Atlantic offer.

About RentFree:

Along with the transfer bonus being offered for August’s Rent Day, Bilt has also debuted a new way for members to earn a chance at having their rent covered. The platform is rolling out a new interactive game show called RentFree that bears some similarities to the classic Family Feud. Previously, Bilt surveyed more than 1,000 members and compiled the top answers to their questions. If contestants can guess at least three of the top six responses to this month’s question, they’ll be entered to have their rent paid for (up to $2,500).

Beyond this participatory element, members can also view RentFree in the Bilt app and watch as a guest attempts to play — and, in the process, win free rent for more members. This month’s guest is Claudia Oshry, also known as @GirlWithNoJob on Instagram. While members will need to wait until Rent Day itself to play Bilt’s other game Points Quest, the debut edition of RentFree is now live in the Bilt app. For August, seven winners will be drawn at random and will be announced on August 3rd.

About Rent Day:

Launched in October 2022, Bilt Rewards celebrates Rent Day on the first day of each month. Past promotions have featured transfer bonuses to other airlines as well as status match challenges, giveaways, and more.

What’s more, each Rent Day, Bilt Mastercard customers can earn double points on (almost) everything. This equates to 6x points on dining, 4x points on select travel, and 2x points on all other purchases — excluding rent.

My thoughts:

Seeing as I’ve long considered taking a trip to London, this month’s Rent Day transfer bonus with Virgin Atlantic could prove to be a good opportunity. What’s more, with Virgin being a transfer partner of Amex and Chase as well, I have plenty of ways to add to whatever points I move from Bilt to my Virgin Red account. That said, it’s typically not advisable to transfer points over without having a booking in mind, so I’ll need to do some thinking before the first.

As for RentFree, this feels like another fun way to potentially win free rent. Of course, regardless of the medium, the odds of actually winning remain slim. Therefore, it’s hard to get too excited about — although I did enjoy playing nonetheless.

Once again, Bilt Rent Day continues to impress, making the Bilt Mastercard one of the most interesting and exciting cards in my wallet.

Lessons From a First-Time Home Buyer: The Story of How We Bought a House

In 2015, my wife and I moved to Springfield, Missouri.
